CLINIC: Good morning, Planned Parenthood.

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: Yes, we do.

CALLER: Oh. Well, how much does that cost?

CLINIC: When was your last period?

CALLER: December 21st.

CLINIC: It will be $375 up to 13 weeks, and then from 13 to 15 it’s $525.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know — like I’m just really worried because like my friend told me that since like I’m going to be 14 in March that you guys would have to tell my parents I’m getting an abortion. But my boyfriend is 22. Could he just sign whatever it is and you wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: No. We still have to notify your parents.

CALLER: Oh. Well, is there any way not to have to tell them? Because they can’t find out at all.

CLINIC: You can do a judicial bypass. But most of the time they’re not granted.

CALLER: Really?

CLINIC: Um-hum.

CALLER: Oh.

CLINIC: You’ll have to get an attorney and you can do it that way.

CALLER: Oh. Well, how much does that cost?

CLINIC: That I’m not too sure how expensive that is.

CALLER: Well, could I come in there and get a — would you guys do a pregnancy test to see if I was pregnant though?

CLINIC: Yeah. We can do that.

CALLER: Okay. It’s just, I’m really scared and I don’t know what to do. So.

CLINIC: Right. I understand, but those are your — I mean —

CALLER: Would you have to tell anybody that I was getting a pregnancy test though?

CLINIC: No, we can do that without telling nobody.

CALLER: Okay. Well, would it be all right like if my boyfriend was there with me because that would be the only way that I could get there?

CLINIC: Yeah, that’s fine.

CALLER: But you wouldn’t have to — we were just talking about all this, and we decided that we didn’t want anyone to know about us. Would you have to ask him anything?

CLINIC: Ask him anything?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Really? But if he’s paying for everything, would he have to sign anything?

CLINIC: No. Uh-uh.

CALLER: Oh, okay. If it ended up that like I wasn’t pregnant, do you guys do birth control there?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: Okay. Well, would you have to tell anybody that I was on birth control though?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Okay. It’s just, the only thing is like I can’t drive because I’m not old enough. But like could my boyfriend come and pick up like the birth control pills?

CLINIC: I’m sorry. Say that again.

CALLER: Since I can’t drive, would it be all right if my boyfriend picked up like birth control pills?

CLINIC: Your boyfriend?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: The first two sets you’re going to have to pick up because we’ll have to check your weight and blood pressure to make sure it’s okay. Okay?

CALLER: But after that would it be all right?

CLINIC: It will be all right if he’s on your emergency contact list.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Okay. What was your name again?

CLINIC: My name’s Melody.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Thanks.

CLINIC: Uh-huh. Bye bye.
