CLINIC: Planned Parenthood. Marlene speaking.

CALLER: Hi. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: Can you hang on for one second?

CALLER: Sure.

CLINIC: Hold on.

(Pause)

CLINIC: Hi. Are you a patient here?

CALLER: No.

CLINIC: We currently have started doing a new service here, not here, but within our Planned Parenthood of Niagara County. However, it’s consists of internal referrals. So if you want to come in for a confirmatory pregnancy test, I can refer you to our clinic.

CALLER: What does that mean?

CLINIC: What does that mean?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: That means that we would have to do a pregnancy test here and confirm that you are, in fact, pregnant. And then we could schedule you an appointment over at our other clinic.

CALLER: Is there any age limit for that or anything?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: I’ll be 14 in March. And that’s still all right?

CLINIC: That’s fine.

CALLER: My friend told me you guys have to tell my parents if I’m going to have an abortion. Is that true?

CLINIC: No, it’s not true.

CALLER: No? Because they can’t find out at all. My boyfriend’s 22, and we’re in love, and we’re going to get married. But they hate him because they think he’s too old for me. So there’s just no way they can find out.

CLINIC: Okay. So are you available Saturday morning to come in to our walk-in clinic for a pregnancy test?

CALLER: Yeah, maybe. I’d have to see if he can take me there.

CLINIC: Okay. We’ve got walk-ins from 9 to 11.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: And nobody has to know?

CLINIC: No. You’d come in for the pregnancy test, and we would schedule you a different appointment for the abortion.

CALLER: What if I have to go there? Do they have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: No? All right. Well, say that I wasn’t pregnant. Do you guys do birth control there?

CLINIC: Yes, we do.

CALLER: And you wouldn’t have to tell anybody about that either?

CLINIC: Right.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: When I talk to my boyfriend, is it all right if I call you back —

CLINIC: Sure, that’s fine.

CALLER: — and ask questions? What was your name?

CLINIC: My name is Chandra (sp).

CALLER: Chandra? All right. Okay. Thank you.

CLINIC: You’re welcome. Bye.
