CLINIC: Good morning. Doctor’s office. Can I help you?

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was calling to see you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: How many weeks are you pregnant?

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know, it’s just, the thing is, like I’m going to be 14 later on this month, and my friend told me that you guys would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend’s 22. Is he old enough to sign whatever it is and you don’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: Yes, ma’am.

CALLER: Okay. All right. Well, do you guys do a pregnancy test there just to make sure?

CLINIC: We do a sonogram to make sure the pregnancy is in the uterus.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: And that’s the sonogram show negative, then we do a pregnancy test to find out if you’re pregnant, yes or no.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: And then we go from there.

CALLER: Okay. Well, if I wasn’t pregnant could I get birth control from you guys?

CLINIC: Yes, ma’am. You need to do a checkup. Yes, ma’am.

CALLER: Okay. But how much does that cost?

CLINIC: A checkup here is $150.

CALLER: Okay. Well, my boyfriend said that he would pay for everything, but we don’t want anyone to know about us.

CLINIC: No problem. No problem.

CALLER: Okay. So if he’s paying for everything he doesn’t have to sign anything or —

CLINIC: No, he don’t have to sign anything. Just you sigh the paperwork. Hold for a second. Hold on. Hold on.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Hello, ma’am?

CALLER: Yeah, I’m here.

CLINIC: You sign the paperwork and that’s it.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: You sign the waiver, that’s it.

CALLER: Okay. Well, I need to call him and find out when he can bring me, but when should I come do you think?

CLINIC: For the checkup? Or are you coming for the abortion?

CALLER: I guess the checkup first.

CLINIC: Well, if I was — you come for an abortion, come make appointment for the abortion only because you don’t want to pay twice.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: So come make an appointment for the abortion. The fee is $250 up to 11 weeks, $250.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Well, is there any other fees then?

CLINIC: Only if your blood type is RH negative. You have to pay $50 more for a Rogam shot.

CALLER: Okay. So how much should I bring then?

CLINIC: Probably $300 to be on the safe side.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: So is it okay if I call my boyfriend and call you back to make an appointment?

CLINIC: No problem.

CALLER: What’s your name?

CLINIC: My name is Yvonne.

CALLER: Okay.
