CLINIC: You would have to come in for the initial like patient education of the pills and then you could put him on your list to pick them up and he can get them for you.

CALLER: Oh. Well, how much does it cost to go to court?

CLINIC: That doesn’t cost you a thing.

CALLER: Oh, really?

CLINIC: Um-hum. When you go to that location on Babcock they’re going to give you more information about it. There’s this lady there who’s in charge of that. Her name is Rachel. She’ll be the one be able to tell you more information how about you do, what is it that you do. Even though your boyfriend’s — did you say 22?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: It doesn’t matter. He can’t sign for you. It has to be your parents.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: And does your mom know that you’re with him?

CALLER: Well, she knows we’re going out, but she doesn’t know we’re having sex. I mean, if they found out about that I don’t know what they would do.

CLINIC: Yeah. So the best thing for you to do is just call them and make an appointment because before you go to court the court people will have to tell you, you have to make sure that you already went to Planned Parenthood and you already got all your papers ready. The best thing for you to do, call them and make an appointment so you could go.

CALLER: Well, could I come in there for a pregnancy test?

CLINIC: Where?

CALLER: Where you’re at?

CLINIC: Yeah.

CALLER: My boyfriend said to go to you guys. It’s just, I’m just really scared because I haven’t had a period since like December 21st, and I don’t know what to do.

CLINIC: Okay. Because you’re a minor. According to the law you’re a minor, and if you were to come in here with your boyfriend, we’d have to call the police.

CALLER: Well, what would happen? What should I do?

CLINIC: Well, what do you need to come in for, ma’am?

CALLER: Well, I mean, I don’t know if I was pregnant or not. I was wanting to come in and get a pregnancy test. I’m just scared because I haven’t had my period since like December 21st.

CLINIC: Well, you know, if you came in here, we would have to report it like I said, and your boyfriend would probably get arrested.

CALLER: Well, why would he get arrested? I mean —

CLINIC: It’s statutory rape according to the law.

CALLER: But he’s not raping me. I mean, we’re in love. We’re going to get married. He’s going to take care of me forever.

CLINIC: Yeah. Well, you know, but that’s the law, ma’am. We don’t make the laws. But we have to abide by them.

CALLER: Well, so there’s just nothing I can do?

CLINIC: I don’t know how to advise you, dear.

CALLER: Well, well, what if I took like the home pregnancy test and it said that I wasn’t pregnant? Could I come in and get birth control?

CLINIC: We would still have to report it because of your age.

CALLER: Oh. Well, even if like I’m going to be 14 in March. Would that make any difference?

CLINIC: That might make some difference. I think it’s 13 and under.

CALLER: Oh. So like I could come in for a birth control after I’m 14?

CLINIC: You could probably, uh-huh.

CALLER: But you guys wouldn’t have to tell anybody then?
