CLINIC: Planned Parenthood.

CALLER: Hi. Do you know if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: There’s a few things you done before you could do that.

CALLER: Okay. What needs to be done?

CLINIC: You would need to have a pregnancy test done here, and we would need to do an exam to tell you how far along you are.

CALLER: Do you have to be a specific age to get a pregnancy test? Like I’ll be 14 in March.

CLINIC: Okay. That doesn’t matter what age you are.

CALLER: Okay. And you guys wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: Nope.

CALLER: Okay. It’s just my parents can’t find out at all because like, well the problem is, my boyfriend’s 22, and we’re planning on getting married and everything, but like my parents hate him because they think he’s too old for me.

CLINIC: Um-hum.

CALLER: And there’s just no way that they could find out or anything.

CLINIC: Okay. Did you want to make an appointment to come in?

CALLER: Well, I’d have to call my boyfriend to see.

CLINIC: When he could bring you?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Okay, and we can arrange for you to come in and have a pregnancy test.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: So after the pregnancy test I could have an abortion, or —

CLINIC: Well, then you would have the pregnancy test and we do an exam. I don’t know if you’ve heard of the pap and pelvic exams?

CALLER: No.

CLINIC: Normally like we’ll do an exam like once a year, and then if for some reason it would be negative we can do an exam for you and then you would be able to get pills here if you would like to be on birth control, or if you want to be on the shot.

CALLER: Do I have to tell anybody about the —

CLINIC: No. It wouldn’t cost you anything.

CALLER: Okay. Would it be all right if my boyfriend came and picked them up?

CLINIC: Um-hum.

CALLER: Yeah? Would he have to fill out any forms or anything?

CLINIC: No. It would just — you would have to come for the exam the first time and then we would need you to come back three months later and get your blood pressure and weight checked.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: And then he can come and pick them up for you.

CALLER: So I could get an abortion like without my parents knowing at all?

CLINIC: Um-hum.

CALLER: All right. Okay. And my boyfriend could bring me and everything?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: Okay. If I had more questions like I have to talk to him and see — but if I have more questions could I talk to you?

CLINIC: Sure. I mean, you can come in or if you want to just call and ask a few questions.

CALLER: Okay What was your name?

CLINIC: I’m Dana.

CALLER: Dana?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: Okay. Well, where would I have to go to get an abortion?

CLINIC: You would have to go to a different office.

CALLER: Oh. Like where?

CLINIC: There are other places that do it, but the office in York does it.

CALLER: Okay. But they wouldn’t have to tell anybody either?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Okay. Okay. Thanks.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Thanks.

CLINIC: You’re welcome.

CALLER: Bye.

CLINIC: Bye.
