CLINIC: No, we don’t do abortions at this center. At the downtown (Service Ring?) and Falls Church Center.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you have that phone number?

CLINIC: Which one?

CALLER: The downtown one?

CALLER: Well, my friend actually told me that you guys have to tell my parents before I can have an abortion. Is that true?

CLINIC: Only in Virginia do you need parental consent. In DC and in Maryland you don’t.

CALLER: Okay. Well, it’s just — like my parents can’t find out at all because my boyfriend’s 22, and we’re going to get married, but they just can’t find out because they think he’s too old for me.

CLINIC: Okay. Well, you will want to get it done even either in DC or Maryland.

CALLER: All right. And do you know if there’s like — is there an age requirement for that or anything?

CLINIC: No, there isn’t.

CALLER: Because I’ll be 14 in March.

CLINIC: That’s fine.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: Well, like do you guys do birth control there or anything?

CLINIC: Yes.

CALLER: Like say that I wasn’t pregnant. Do you guys do that there?

CLINIC: Um-hum.

CALLER: And would you have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you guys like have a pregnancy test there?

CLINIC: Yes.

CALLER: Like, well the main reason why I’m calling is because, well, I’m scared because my last period was like the first week in December, so.

CLINIC: Okay. Well, it would do you best if you get a pregnancy test.

CALLER: Okay. And you guys don’t have to tell anybody about the pregnancy test either?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Okay. Is it all right if my boyfriend brings me?

CLINIC: That’s fine.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: Well, is it okay — like I have to see, talk to my boyfriend and make sure he doesn’t have any other questions. Could I call you back and ask you?

CLINIC: Actually you probably want to call the downtown center.

CALLER: Oh, all right. Well, if he had questions about the birth control there, would — the people in the downtown wouldn’t know, would they?

CLINIC: I’m sorry. If you had questions — yes. They do birth control in all the centers.

CALLER: Oh. Well, I was just wanting —

CLINIC: Okay. You can call back if you have any questions. Okay?

CALLER: Okay. Well, what was your name?

CLINIC: Okay. We can’t give out names over the phone, but you call back and you can speak to anyone that answers the phone.

CLINIC: How far pregnant are you?

CALLER: Because he’s the only one that can take me, but.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you guys — like say that I wasn’t pregnant. Do you guys do birth control there?

CLINIC: Yes.

CALLER: And you wouldn’t have to tell anybody about that either?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Would it be all right if my boyfriend brings me?

CLINIC: To this appointment?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Yeah.

CALLER: And you guys wouldn’t —

CLINIC: I mean, you know, how are we to know who bring you to your appointment? So, no, it’s — there’s no parental, no parent notification.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: It’s all confidential.

CALLER: So they wouldn’t have to ask about like my boyfriend or anything?

CLINIC: Well, I don’t know. I wouldn’t say they wouldn’t ask, but there’s no reporting to the police or any official.

CALLER: Oh.

CLINIC: Nothing outside of this agency unless it’s something that you want.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: Well, if he had any other questions, could I call and talk to you?

CLINIC: He could call to ask questions, yes. You know, we can talk in general terms.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: But as far as scheduling an appointment, that is something that you would have to do.

CALLER: Oh, all right.

CLINIC: Okay.
