CLINIC: Planned Parenthood. May I help you?

CALLER: Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: Yes, we do.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know how much that costs?

CLINIC: It’s $395.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you have to be like a specific age for that? Like I’ll be 14 in March.

CLINIC: You’ll be how old in March?

CALLER: 14.

CLINIC: You will need parental consent.

CALLER: Oh. Is there any way not to do that? Because like my boyfriend said he would take care of it. Like — well, he’s 22, and we’re planning on getting married, but like they can’t tell my parents at all because they would be furious.

CLINIC: The only thing that I can do is give you a number to a lawyer so you could try to get a judicial bypass at no charge.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: That’s all I could do.

CALLER: What does the lawyer do?

CLINIC: Well, you would have to meet with her, and she’ll have to talk with you, and if you’re able to get the judicial bypass she will authorize that at that time, and you wouldn’t need parental consent.

CALLER: Okay. Is there any reason that they would say no?

CLINIC: I’m not sure.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Let me give you that — her name and number.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: It’s Shannon Potike (sp), and her phone number is 929-1400.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: But do you know if the judge usually says yes or no or —

CLINIC: Do I know what now?

CALLER: Do you know if the judge usually says yes?

CLINIC: I don’t know.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Well, is it okay to come in there and get like a pregnancy test?

CLINIC: Yes, ma’am. You can just walk in for a pregnancy test.

CALLER: You guys wouldn’t have to tell anybody or anything?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Is it all right if like my boyfriend brings me?

CLINIC: That’s fine.

CALLER: And you guys wouldn’t have to say anything about him either?

CLINIC: Right.

CALLER: Okay. Well, like say that I wasn’t pregnant, do you guys have birth control there?

CLINIC: Yes, ma’am.

CALLER: And you wouldn’t have to tell anybody about that either?

CLINIC: Right.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Is it — like I need to talk to my boyfriend and see if he had any other questions, but is it okay if I call you back?

CLINIC: That’s fine.

CALLER: What was your name?

CLINIC: Pam.

CALLER: All right. Okay.

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: Thanks.

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: Bye.

CLINIC: Bye bye.
