CLINIC: Planned Parenthood. How can I help you?

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: We do provide that service here.

CALLER: Okay. Do you know how much it would cost?

CLINIC: They start at $300. They range from $300 to $400.

CALLER: Okay. Well, is there like an age requirement for that? Like I’ll be 14 in March.

CLINIC: You have to have a parental consent, honey.

CALLER: Oh. Is there any way that you guys don’t have to tell my parents?

CLINIC: No. In the state of Pennsylvania it’s a law that you’re required to have parental consent.

CALLER: Oh. Because — well, like my parents can’t find out at all because like — well like my boyfriend’s 22, and we’re in love and we’re going to get married, but like, like they can’t find out because they think he’s too old for me.

CLINIC: Right. Well, honey, in the state of Pennsylvania you have to have a parental consent, and that’s going to be in any state you go.

CALLER: In any state?

CLINIC: Yep.

CALLER: Okay. So what do I do?

CLINIC: You’re going to have to talk to your parents about it, hon.

CALLER: But I can’t. They would get furious.

CLINIC: Okay. Well (laughs). That’s the best thing I can tell you. That’s what you’re going to have to do because that’s your only option really right now.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: If like I wasn’t pregnant, do you guys do birth control or anything there?

CLINIC: We do birth control, yes.

CALLER: Would you have to tell my parents about that?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Okay. Well, all right. If I had any more questions could I call you back?

CLINIC: You sure can.

CALLER: What was your name?

CLINIC: My name’s Michelle.
