CLINIC: Planned Parenthood. How can I help you?

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: We don’t do them here at this office, but we do them at our downtown facility called Women’s Health Services.

CALLER: Okay. Do you have the number for that?

CLINIC: Yeah. Are you ready?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Okay. It’s 412-562-1900.

CALLER: Okay. Do you know — like do you know if they have to tell anybody like about me having an abortion?

CLINIC: Do they have to tell anyone?

CALLER: Yeah. Like my friend said you guys have to tell my parents before I can have an abortion.

CLINIC: How old are you?

CALLER: I’ll be 14 in March.

CLINIC: I don’t think so. I mean, a lot of women under 18 get terminations done. They — if you ask them there they’ll be able to tell you how to go about doing that. I’m not exactly sure.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: But I’m pretty sure — I mean, I’m pretty sure, I’m positive you could get one without your parents knowing.

CALLER: Okay. Well, it’s just like they can’t find out at all because like my boyfriend’s 22, and we’re in love and we’re going to get married, but they hate him because they think he’s too old for me.

CLINIC: Oh.

CALLER: So that’s why they can’t find out.

CLINIC: Right. Right. I’m pretty sure that that doesn’t have to happen. They know how. I have no idea how they, you know, how to go about doing that.

CALLER: Okay. Well, like do you guys do birth control there?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: And you wouldn’t have to tell anybody about that either?

CLINIC: Nope. Nope. Wouldn’t have to tell anybody about that either. Can you hold on just a second?

CALLER: Sure.

CLINIC: Thank you. Yeah. You know, after you have that done you can come back here and, you know, you can get birth control through us, and it’s truly confidential.

CALLER: Okay. Because I’m just so scared of – I’m just — I don’t know what to do.

CLINIC: Right.

CALLER: Like is it okay if my boyfriend brings me if I was getting birth control?

CLINIC: If, if he what? I’m sorry.

CALLER: Like is it all right if he brings me because I wouldn’t have any other way to get there.

CLINIC: Oh, yeah. Yeah.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Oh, that’s fine.

CALLER: Would it be all right if like say he came and picked it up?

CLINIC: If he picked up your birth control?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Yeah, if you do — if you get it here, yeah. He could pick it up. All he would need is a note from you saying it was okay.

CALLER: Oh, okay, and you guys wouldn’t have to tell anybody at all?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Okay. If I had any more questions could I talk to you?

CLINIC: Well, sure. I’m the only one here today. And I’ll be here tomorrow.

CALLER: Okay. What was your name?

CLINIC: Lisa.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Okay, well, give them a call and see what they tell you about the whole thing.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: Thank you.

CLINIC: You’re welcome.
