CLINIC: Planned Parenthood. May I help you?

CALLER: Hi. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: No, we don’t.

CALLER: Oh.

CLINIC: We can give you the number where you can get that done.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Do you have a pen?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Okay. It’s 1-800 — this is the Dayton Women’s Center — 1-800-672-6810.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know — I’m just really worried about all this because my — well, I’m going to be 14 in March and my friend said that they would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend’s 22. Is he old enough to take care of it and they wouldn’t —

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: — have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: Nope. Have to have parental consent when you’re a minor.

CALLER: Oh. Well, is there any way not to tell my parents at all because if they found out I mean I don’t know what would happen.

CLINIC: Well, what you need to do is you need to call and talk with the termination clinic. And they may have some legal ways to go about not doing that. But you need to talk to them. They do all that for you.

CALLER: Okay. Well, I haven’t had a pregnancy test yet. I’m just worried because I haven’t had my period since like December 21st, and I’m scared.

CLINIC: Okay. Well, first thing you probably need to do is, you probably need to come in with a first morning urine specimen, have a pregnancy test done.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: And it’s $12.

CALLER: Oh, well, my boyfriend said that he would pay for everything. Is it all right if he’s there?

CLINIC: Yeah. That’s fine.

CALLER: Okay. He’s just worried about having to sign a bunch of papers. Would he have to sign anything?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: So if — we’re open all day tomorrow or this afternoon would be a good time to come in. We have a clinic going on this morning, so any time after 12:00 noon would be fine, but you do have to bring in a urine specimen with you in a container.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: And it’s $12, okay?

CALLER: So what time tomorrow?

CLINIC: All day. We’re here all day from 9:30 ’til 4:30.

CALLER: Okay. Well, if it turned out that I wasn’t pregnant could I get birth control there?

CLINIC: What you’d have to do is, we’d have to get you in and get you on, get you an exam and we’d get you set up on birth control.

CALLER: Okay, but would you have to tell anybody that I was on birth control though?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Okay. Well, is it all right if I call back and ask for you if I had any other questions? What’s your name?

CLINIC: My name is Beth.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Thanks.
