CALLER: Well, can I ask a question real quick?

CLINIC: Go right ahead.

CALLER: Well, it’s just my friend told me that since like I’ll be 14 in March that you guys have to tell my parents, but my boyfriend’s 22. Could he take care of whatever they have to do so they don’t have to find out?

CLINIC: No. There’s really — I mean, there’s a lot of laws involved. You realize your relationship with your boyfriend is illegal?

CALLER: What do you mean? I don’t understand.

CLINIC: If you’re only 14 and your boyfriend’s 22, it’s statutory rape.

CALLER: What is that? I don’t understand. We’re in love. We’re going to get married.

CLINIC: Well, I mean, that’s something you’d have to talk to your parents about.

CALLER: But I can’t tell my parents. They hate him.

CLINIC: Well, I mean, the laws are the laws. You’ll have to call the abortion clinic, but he won’t be able to take care of it. They will have to advise your parents.

CALLER: So there’s no way not to tell them at all?

CLINIC: There’s stuff you can go through with the courts, but you’ll need to talk with them about that. We don’t do that here.

CALLER: Oh. Well, what could happen to him?

CLINIC: Different things, but like I said you need to talk with the abortion clinic. We don’t do that stuff here.

CALLER: Oh. Well, but — he’s, he loves me. We’re — I don’t understand.

CLINIC: Yeah. Like I said, the laws are the laws. We don’t deal with that here, so you’ll need to talk with them.

CALLER: Okay. Well, would it be all right if he took me? Because I don’t know how else I would get there.

CLINIC: You’ll have to call them.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Well, my friend just told me to go to you guys, so could I get like a pregnancy test there?

CLINIC: You could if you wanted to.

CALLER: Okay. Would you have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: No, no. Everything we do is confidential.

CALLER: Would you guys have to say anything about my boyfriend if that was the only way I could get there?

CLINIC: If you don’t mention it, there’s nothing that we can do. I mean, the forms that we have you fill out for pregnancy testing, it doesn’t ask the age of your partner.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: So. That’s something that is confidential, but if you would like to come for a pregnancy test they’re $12 unless you have a medical card.

CALLER: Okay. Well, like after the pregnancy test if it was negative, do you guys do birth control there?

CLINIC: Yes, we do.

CALLER: Would you have to tell anybody about that at all?

CLINIC: About the birth control?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Okay. So well, is it all right if I call you back?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: What was your name?
