CLINIC: Planned Parenthood.

CALLER: Hi. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: Not in this office we don’t. They do it in the Poughkeepsie office.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you have that phone number?

CLINIC: Sure. You can come here for your pre-surgical, but it’s probably easier just to go down there.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, my friend said you guy were the people to go to, so that’s why I’m calling you guys.

CLINIC: Okay. I’ll tell you what, we’re not going to be able to fit you in. You’re going to need a pregnancy test, and then a full exam.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Have you ever been to any Planned Parenthood in the Hudson Valley?

CALLER: No.

CLINIC: What you’re going to need is you’re going to need to have a pregnancy test either by our office or another office. And I’ll tell you what, I am totally booked today and Monday.

CALLER: Well, I’d have to talk to my boyfriend and see when he can get off work and everything.

CLINIC: Well, if you want, I can give you a couple numbers and you can try around. Maybe you can get in sooner.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: We’re only open two days a week. The other offices are open everyday.

CALLER: My friend told me that you guys actually have to tell my parents before I can have an abortion. Is that true?

CLINIC: No, that is not true. It’s confidential.

CALLER: My parents can’t find out at all because my boyfriend’s 22. We’re planning on getting married, but my parents absolutely hate him because they think he’s too old for me.

CLINIC: How old are you?

CALLER: I’m going to be 14 in March.

CLINIC: You’re going to be 14?

CALLER: Uh-huh.

CLINIC: That’s a big age difference, honey.

CALLER: Well, he said that — we’re going to get married. He loves me.

CLINIC: Oh, okay. You want me to give you these numbers?

CALLER: Yeah. All right.

CLINIC: And if you can’t, call back here. But other wise, they could probably fit you in sooner, okay?

CALLER: Okay. But they wouldn’t have to tell anybody either?

CLINIC: No, not at all.

CALLER: All right.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: That’s our Poughkeepsie number. And our Kingston number is 338-0840.

CALLER: Okay. If I wasn’t pregnant, do you guys do birth control there?

CLINIC: Yes, we do.

CALLER: No one would have to know about that either?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: We’d have to set you up for an exam, okay?

CALLER: Okay. Is it cool if I talk to my boyfriend and then call you back?

CLINIC: Sure. But, you know —
