CALLER: Hi. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CALLER: Okay.

CALLER: Okay. Can I ask a question?

CLINIC: Yes.

CALLER: My friend told me that you guys have to tell my parents before I can have an abortion. Is that true?

CLINIC: No, that’s not true. How old are you?

CALLER: I’m going to be 14 in March.

CLINIC: Do you know you’re pregnant already?

CALLER: Well —

CLINIC: You can come in here for a pregnancy test.

CALLER: I got one at the store over the weekend.

CLINIC: But you need a writ out sheet stating that you’re pregnant, a proof out sheet stating that you’re pregnant. Then you take it to New Rochelle or White Plains. Where you live?

CALLER: I live in Polling (ph).

CLINIC: Polling?

CALLER: Yes.

CLINIC: Where is that at? It’s in Westchester?

CALLER: No.

CLINIC: You don’t have no Planned Parenthood around you?

CALLER: Well, I just don’t want anyone to know where I am — I just don’t want anyone to see me.

CLINIC: Oh. So where would you rather go? Because you need to get a pregnancy test first. What’s closer, Mount Vernon or New Rochelle, White Plains?

CALLER: Well, I just really wanted to go there. That’s where my friend said to go.

CLINIC: Where?

CALLER: Where you guys are at.

CLINIC: Mount Vernon?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: All right. The only thing we do is the pregnancy test, and we give you the proof sheet that you’re pregnant. You have to take that to New Rochelle or White Plains to get the abortion done. When was your last period?

CALLER: I’m not sure how long. It was before Christmas. I think it was like probably like the first week in December.

CLINIC: You can’t wait a lot of time either, because we only do up to 13 weeks.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: So you have to come in. How old are you? Fourteen, right?

CALLER: I’ll be 14 in March.

CLINIC: You’ll be 14 in March? How do you get to travel? Your mother lets you travel?

CALLER: Well, my boyfriend will take me. He’s 22. He can drive.

CLINIC: Your boyfriend’s 22?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Your mother know you got a 22-year-old boyfriend?

CALLER: Well, she doesn’t like him.

CLINIC: Oh. You’re too young. You’re only 13. I know I shouldn’t be telling you this, right? All right. He can bring you to Mount Vernon. We do the pregnancy test. You can come any time for the pregnancy test.

CALLER: Okay. And nobody has to know about it?

CLINIC: Nobody has to know. And after that, you can either go to New Rochelle on Thursday, because it’s going to be early in the morning — but you go to school — or you can go to White Plains, or skip school or whatever.

CALLER: Oh.

CLINIC: So you can either do Thursday New Rochelle, Saturday, White Plains.

CALLER: Say I wasn’t pregnant; do you guys do birth control there?

CLINIC: Yep. We do birth control.

CALLER: And you wouldn’t have to tell anybody about that either?

CLINIC: No. You need to really consider — but what would you want? You would want probably like to get a shot or something, or you could take pills and hide them from your mother.

CALLER: Okay. I don’t know.

CLINIC: I don’t know. We’ll go over that when you come here. They give you a package, things you can read about.

CALLER: But you’re sure they wouldn’t have to tell anybody about it?

CLINIC: They don’t tell nobody. Everything here is confidential unless you want the information given out. And you would have to sign a paper. But everything here is confidential, okay?

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: All right.

CALLER: Can I talk to my boyfriend and make sure he doesn’t have any questions or anything?

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: It is cool if I call you back?
