CLINIC: Planned Parenthood.

CALLER: Hi. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: We don’t do them here. What we do, you come in and do a pregnancy test. You speak with the counselor, and then she can refer you out if it’s a positive pregnancy.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: So (unclear) at Amy Cousins’ office, and I believe there’s another clinic somewhere in the area that does abortion. I can give you her hours when she’s here. She’s not here today, on Wednesdays. She’s her tomorrow between 3 and 5:30 for Thursdays. It’s like a separate clinic she runs. And then Friday between 11 and 2. Okay? You can come in for that, and then speak to her.

CALLER: My friend told me if I come in, you guys have to tell my parents if I’m having an abortion. Is that true?

CLINIC: No. No. This is all confidential here.

CALLER: Okay. Because if they found out — the problem is my boyfriend is 22. And we’re planning on getting married because we’re in love. But they think he’s too old for me.

CLINIC: No. Everything here would be confidential. There’s nothing here your parents would know about. That’s between you and the clinic.

CALLER: And there’s no age limit on having —

CLINIC: Age limit? No. How old are you?

CALLER: I’ll be 14 in March.

CLINIC: Fourteen? Yeah, you could probably talk to the counselor. They’ll be able to refer you out. Her name’s Kathy when you come in. Okay?

CALLER: And she wouldn’t have to tell anybody either?

CLINIC: Nope. Nope. You would talk to her. Everything would be confidential. That’s something we keep as a patient here. Nobody else would know about your visit.

CALLER: Okay. If it turned out that I wasn’t pregnant or whatever, do you guys do birth control there?

CLINIC: Yes. You can do an annual and to be set on birth control. They would do like a complete exam.

CALLER: You guys wouldn’t have to tell anybody about that either?

CLINIC: No. Everything here is confidential.

CALLER: Okay. I have to talk to my boyfriend. But if he has questions, can I talk to you?

CLINIC: Yeah. He can come with you or if you don’t want him here —

CALLER: Well, can I call you back and see?

CLINIC: For what? For him to come for an exam or for him to be seen here? He can do exams here too.

CALLER: Well, I was just wondering, if he has questions, if I can talk to you later, and ask you.

CLINIC: Oh yeah. Yeah, that’s fine.

CALLER: Well, what was your name?

CLINIC: My name is Nancy.

CALLER: Nancy?

CLINIC: Yeah. I’ll only be here until 6, and you’re more than welcome to call back.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: Thanks.

CLINIC: Yeah. Bye bye.
