CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering, do you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: Yes.

CALLER: Yeah?

CLINIC: You have to come for a pregnancy test.

CALLER: Well, how much does it cost?

CLINIC: Hold on, please.

CALLER: Yeah. I was just wondering about abortions.

CLINIC: Okay. We do abortions here.

CALLER: Okay. Well, how much does that cost, I guess?

CLINIC: If you’re under 12 weeks, it’s $350.

CALLER: Okay. How do you know —

CLINIC: How do you go about doing it?

CALLER: Well, how do you know how far along you are?

CLINIC: The first day of your last period. When was your last period?

CALLER: Well, I guess — it was probably around like maybe the first week in December.

CLINIC: What town do you live in?

CALLER: I live in Whiting (sp).

CLINIC: Wooding (ph)?

CALLER: Whiting, yeah.

CLINIC: Where’s that?

CALLER: Well it’s in — it’s in the middle.

CLINIC: Are you in New Jersey?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Okay. What town is it?

CALLER: Whiting.

CLINIC: Whiting. Oh, down by Fort Dix?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Oh. Oh, okay. So you’re about an hour-and-a-half from us. Do you want to go to Planned Parenthood in South Jersey?

CALLER: No, I really want to go just someplace where no one will see me.

CLINIC: Okay. So you need to come up here and speak to a counselor. You need to come in two visits.

CALLER: Oh.

CLINIC: So when do you want to come?

CALLER: Oh, I don’t know. I have to talk to my boyfriend to see. But — it’s just —

CLINIC: Okay. You don’t have a lot of time to play with. You should come up as soon as possible. So call your boyfriend and see when he can bring you up here.

CALLER: It’s just — the problem is I can’t tell my parents at all, because —

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: — he’s 22, and we’re planning on getting married. But my parents absolutely hate him because they think he’s too old for me.

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: But there’s just no way that they can find out that we’re having sex.

CLINIC: Okay. So how old are you?

CALLER: I’m going to be 14 in March.

CLINIC: Okay. So you need to talk to your boyfriend about bringing you up here, okay?

CALLER: Okay. And no one would tell anybody or anything?

CLINIC: You need to give us a call back; get your boyfriend to bring you up here.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: All right?

CALLER: Well —

CLINIC: Why don’t you get a hold of him and give us a call back.

CALLER: Well, I won’t be able to talk to him until like after 5:00 when he gets off. But there would be no way that anybody would know at all?

CLINIC: You should give us a call tomorrow morning.

CALLER: Well, I just don’t want anyone to find out.

CLINIC: No. You can have an abortion in New Jersey up to 12 — you can have an abortion without parental consent or knowledge.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: All right?

CALLER: If I ended up not being pregnant, would there be any way you guys could give us birth control?

CLINIC: Well, I would probably send you to another center because you’re so far from us.

CALLER: Yeah. But would I like be able to get birth control there?

CLINIC: You could.

CALLER: And no one would find out about that either?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: No?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: All right?

CALLER: Well, can I talk to you next time I call?

CLINIC: Sure. My name is Lauren.

CALLER: Lauren?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: All right.
