CLINIC: Planned Parenthood. Can I help you?

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: You’d have to come in for a pregnancy test and speak with a counselor.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, could I ask a couple of questions first?

CLINIC: Okay. Well, due to security reasons, I won’t be able to answer anything about that.

CALLER: It’s just that I need to know before I do anything.

CLINIC: No. You need to come in for the test. And then when you come in for the test, they’ll be able to discuss everything with you then.

CALLER: It’s just — I can’t — the problem is, I can’t tell my parents at all. My boyfriend’s 22. And we’re planning on getting married, but my parents can’t stand him because they think he’s too old for me. And if they found out that we were having sex, we would get in big trouble.

CLINIC: Okay. That’s no problem. We’re confidential. They don’t have to know.

CALLER: You wouldn’t have to tell anybody at all?

CLINIC: Nope.

CALLER: Okay. Well, is there like an age limit for an abortion of anything?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: So it’s all right if I’m like — I’m going to be 14 in March, so that’s still okay?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: If it ended up that I wasn’t pregnant, would you guys be able to do birth control or anything?

CLINIC: Yep.

CALLER: Yeah? And still no one would have to know about that either?

CLINIC: Yep.

CALLER: Okay. So I have to come in to —

CLINIC: Yeah, you need to make an appointment. Hold on a second.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Hold on.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay. I’m going to make you an appointment.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Could I get your name, last name first?

CALLER: Well, it’s Smith.

CLINIC: Smith?

CALLER: Uh-huh. And my first name is Christine.

CLINIC: With a “C”?

CALLER: Uh-huh.

CLINIC: What is your birthday?

CALLER: It’s March 19, 1988.

CLINIC: Phone number, cell phone, beeper?

CALLER: Well, is it all right if I — I have to talk to my boyfriend. Can I call you guys back?

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: Well, is it okay if I talk to you. I just don’t want —

CLINIC: Let me just set up this appointment.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: What days are good for you?

CALLER: I don’t know. I’ve got to talk to my — well, I guess, maybe Friday.

CLINIC: Is he at school?

CALLER: Well, he’s at work.

CLINIC: Okay. Why don’t you call me back when you have a good time that the both of you can come. All right?

CALLER: Okay. What was your name?

CLINIC: Jackie.

CALLER: Jackie?

CLINIC: Yep.
