CLINIC: Good morning, Planned Parenthood. Gina.

CALLER: Hi. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: No, we don’t.

CALLER: Do you know of anyplace that might?

CLINIC: Um-hmm. Our closest is Columbia.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Do you want the number?

CALLER: Yes, please.

CALLER: Yeah, I guess.

CALLER: Okay. I’m just really scared. My friend told me that — I’ll be 14 in March, and she said that my parents have to be told that I’m getting an abortion. But I can’t tell them at all. My boyfriend’s 22. Could he take care of everything —

CLINIC: Not if you’re a minor I don’t think.

CALLER: Really?

CLINIC: I don’t think so, but call the clinic and find out for sure.

CALLER: I don’t really know. But I’m scared because my last period was December 14th.

CLINIC: Have you taken a test yet?

CALLER: No.

CLINIC: That’s probably your next step.

CALLER: Well, could I come in there for that then?

CLINIC: Um-hmm. We’ll be here all day tomorrow 8 to 5. We’ll be here Saturday.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: We can do that for you.

CALLER: It’s just my boyfriend doesn’t want anybody to know. Would you have to tell anybody I was getting a pregnancy test?

CLINIC: You have to do papers, and you have to be in our computer, but it’s all confidential.

CALLER: Oh, okay. But nobody would have to anything about him?

CALLER: Uh-uh.

CALLER: Oh, okay. I just really wanted to have him there with me. Is that okay?

CLINIC: Yeah.

CALLER: Yeah?

CLINIC: Yeah.

CALLER: If the pregnancy test was negative, do you guys do birth control there?

CLINIC: Yes, we do.

CALLER: Would you have to tell anybody that I was on birth control though?

CLINIC: No. It’s all confidential.

CALLER: Is it okay if my boyfriend picks it up? Because I don’t drive. I wouldn’t have any way to pick it up.

CLINIC: The birth control?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Yeah, we’ll cross that when we get there. Let’s get the pregnancy test done first, because you’re going to have to come back for an exam. If it’s negative, we’ll make you an appointment for an exam. And if you get on pills, we can have him sign a thing.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: So just come and get them after the exam?

CLINIC: Yeah, when you get all that — you need to become a patient first. So we need to do all that first.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Was your name Tina?

CLINIC: Gina.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?
