CLINIC: Planned Parenthood, South Kansas City.

CALLER: Hi. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: No, we don’t. I can give you the number where they do.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: It’s 913-345-1400.

CALLER: Okay. Where is that exactly?

CLINIC: It’s on 109th and Rowe.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, do you know — like I’m just scared because my friend told me that since like I’ll be 14 in March that they would have to tell my parents I’m getting an abortion. But my boyfriend’s 22. Could he just sign whatever it is and they wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: No. You can ask for a judicial bypass. And you would have to go in front of a judge. And the judge would determine whether you’re mature enough to do this on your own.

CALLER: Oh. Well, do I need like a lawyer for that?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: No?

CLINIC: Uh-uh.

CALLER: Okay. Well, does the judge ever say no or anything?

CLINIC: You might want to ask them. We don’t deal too much with that stuff.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, could I come in there for like a pregnancy test?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CLINIC: They’re $18 here.

CALLER: Okay. Well, it’s just I haven’t had one yet, but like I haven’t had my period since like December 14, and I’m just really scared.

CLINIC: Okay. Yeah. You might want to come in and do a test.

CALLER: Okay. Well, my– would it be — like I would really feel better if my boyfriend was there with me. Would that be all right?

CLINIC: That’s fine.

CALLER: Okay. Well, it’s just — we’ve talked about all this and everything, and we decided we don’t want anyone to know about this. Would you guys have to say anything about him or anything?

CLINIC: Everything’s confidential.

CALLER: Okay. Well, if the pregnancy test came out to be that I wasn’t pregnant, do you guys have birth control there then?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: Yeah?

CLINIC: We can get you started on birth control today if you wanted.

CALLER: Oh. Well, do you guys have to tell anybody that I was on birth control though?

CLINIC: Nope. That’s all confidential.

CALLER: Okay. Well, how late do you go, do you do pregnancy tests today?

CLINIC: We are closed. We close at 5:00.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, but I could get birth control today?

CLINIC: Um-hum.

CALLER: If I —

CLINIC: If your test comes back negative.

CALLER: All right. Well, let me — do you know how long it would take though?

CLINIC: Not even five minutes.

CALLER: Oh, really?

CLINIC: Um-hum.

CALLER: Okay. Well, let me call my boyfriend and see. Could I call you back and make sure if he had any other questions? What was your name?

CLINIC: Jennifer.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Thanks.

CLINIC: Uh-huh.
