CLINIC: Planned Parenthood. This is Patty.

CALLER: Hi. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: No. The only place that they’re done through us is in the cities.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: At the clinics there.

CALLER: Do you have the number for that, or?

CLINIC: Yeah. Hang on just a second. (pause)

CLINIC (NEW PERSON): Hey there.

CALLER: Hi.

CLINIC: Looking for a phone number?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Okay, this is for the Highland Clinic, and this is an 800 number for you.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: It’s 877-890-6225.

CALLER: Okay. Well, can I ask a question real quick?

CLINIC: Sure, go ahead.

CALLER: Well, my friend said that since like I’ll be 14 in March that you guys have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend’s 22. Could he sign whatever it is?

CLINIC: No. The only thing they can do is what’s called a judicial bypass.

CALLER: What is that?

CLINIC: You have to go to court and tell them the reason why you don’t want your parents to know.

CALLER: How much does that cost?

CLINIC: I don’t think there’s a fee for THAT. But you know what? When you call up and make an appointment up there, they’ll be able to tell you. Ask them about that up there.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know if the judge ever says no or anything?

CLINIC: I’m not really for sure. I think different counties are different.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Like some are more strict and some are not, so I think your best bet would probably be to a court up in the city someplace rather than here in Redwing.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: But I think they would know more about that up at Highland as far as, you know, a good place for you to go and that kind of stuff.

CALLER: Oh. Well, it’s just my friend told me to go to you guys, so.

CLINIC: That is a Planned Parenthood up there, the number that I gave you.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: But do you guys do like pregnancy tests there?

CLINIC: Yes, we do.

CALLER: Would you have to tell my parents or anybody at all about that?

CLINIC: No, not about that.

CALLER: Okay. Because like — but you wouldn’t — is it all right if like my boyfriend brings me because I wouldn’t have any other way to get there.

CLINIC: Yep, that’s fine.

CALLER: And you wouldn’t have to tell anybody about him either?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Oh, all right. Well, like say that I wasn’t pregnant, like the pregnancy tests came out negative — do you guys do birth control there?

CLINIC: Yes, we do, and you would just have to make an appointment for an exam and we can provide birth control for you.

CALLER: Well, you wouldn’t have to tell anybody that I was on birth control either?

CLINIC: No. It’s strictly confidential, only between us here at the clinic and you.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: So if you wanted to come in for a pregnancy test, we’re open until 7:00 today.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Thanks.

CLINIC: You’re welcome. Bye bye.

CALLER: Bye.
