CLINIC: No, we don’t do abortions here. The clinic in Baltimore City does abortions, and then there is another clinic that’s not a Planned Parenthood clinic down in Germantown.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Would you like their number?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Okay. The Planned Parenthood in Baltimore is 410-576-1414. And Germantown Reproductive Health Services is 1-800=848-5471.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know like if you have to be a specific age for having an abortion? Like I’ll be 14 in March.

CLINIC: No. You don’t have to be a specific age to have an abortion.

CALLER: Okay. Well, it’s just — like my friend told me that you guys have to tell my parents. Is that true?

CLINIC: I don’t believe it, no. They shouldn’t have to tell your parents.

CALLER: Okay, because it’s just — if they found out — like my boyfriend’s 22. And we’re going to get married and everything. But like they hate him because they think he’s too old for me, and so they just can’t find out.

CLINIC: Right. No. Well, at Planned Parenthood, the one in Baltimore City, it’s a confidentiality issue. They couldn’t ell your parents.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Okay. So they wouldn’t have to tell anybody at all?

CLINIC: I’m sorry?

CALLER: They wouldn’t have to tell anybody at all?

CLINIC: No, they wouldn’t have to tell anyone at all. You could sign for yourself to have the procedure done.

CALLER: Okay. Well, would it be all right if my boyfriend takes me and everything?

CLINIC: Of course.

CALLER: But they wouldn’t have to ask about him or anything?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Well, do you guys like —

CLINIC: Do you know how far along you are?

CALLER: Well, like my last period was like the first week in December.

CLINIC: Your last period was the first week in December? Do you know exactly what day it was?

CALLER: Not really. It was probably like the 3rd.

CLINIC: Like the 3rd?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Okay. You’re about 10 weeks pregnant, so you need to give them a call and get in there, okay?

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, is there any way that — like if I wasn’t pregnant, do you guys do like birth control there?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: And you wouldn’t have to tell anybody about that either?

CLINIC: No. We’re completely confidential.

CALLER: Okay. Would it like be all right if my boyfriend came and picked that up?

CLINIC: You would need to come in and be seen.

CALLER: Uh-huh.

CLINIC: But to get birth control here you would need to come in and be seen.

CALLER: Oh, all right.

CLINIC: But you could come for your two-week checkup here after your abortion you have to have a two-week checkup, and you could come here to the Frederick clinic.

CALLER: Oh.

CLINIC: Either place. You could still come here to the, for your two-week checkup. You wouldn’t have to go all the way back down there.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Okay. Thanks.

CLINIC: You’re welcome.

CALLER: Bye.
