CLINIC: Good afternoon, Women’s Center (unclear).

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. Can you talk a little louder? I can’t really hear you?

CLINIC: How can I help you?

CALLER: Oh, hi. Yeah. I was calling to see if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: Yes. How many weeks pregnant are you?

CALLER: I’m not really sure. I just haven’t had my period since like January 3rd.

CLINIC: Then the fee is 310 heavy sedation. That’s the one you can’t feel or remember anything.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: 260 medium sedation. You’ll be half awake, half sedated, or 210 fully awake.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: When did you want to come in?

CALLER: I’m not really sure. But I have a couple of questions first. I’m going to be 14 later on this month, and my friend said that you guys would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend’s 22. Is he old enough to take care of it, and you wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: He can come here if he’s going to take responsible for you, and he could bring a picture i.d., and like I say, he’ll be responsible for you.

CALLER: But would you have to tell anybody about him? It’s just we were talking about all this, and we don’t —

CLINIC: Whatever you do here is confidential.

CALLER: Really? Okay.

CLINIC: You said you’re 14?

CALLER: Well, I’ll be 14 on the 19th of this month.

CLINIC: How old is your boyfriend?

CALLER: Twenty-two.

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: And that’s all right?

CLINIC: If he’s willing to take full charge of you when you walk in, he’s the one that’s going to be responsible for you.

CALLER: Yeah, he said that he would take care of everything.

CLINIC: When did you want to come in?

CALLER: I’m not really sure. Could I get a pregnancy test first just to make sure?

CLINIC: We run a pregnancy test on everybody that walks in here.

CALLER: Oh, okay. When do you normally have your appointments?

CLINIC: Monday through Saturday.

CALLER: What time on Saturday?

CLINIC: Saturday starting at 8:00.

CALLER: If it turned out that I wasn’t pregnant, could I get birth control from you guys?

CLINIC: Sure. The visit would be 80; pap smear would be 50.

CALLER: Okay. Would I be able to get the birth control the same day?

CLINIC: Yes.

CALLER: Okay. I need to call him and see if we can come out on Saturday. But what was your name to call back?

CLINIC: You can call anybody and speak here and make an appointment.

CALLER: Oh, okay. It’s just I would rather talk to you because you’re nice. Could I call and talk to you?

CLINIC: Tina.

CALLER: Okay. All right. Thanks.

CLINIC: Okay. Bye bye.

CALLER: Bye.

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was calling to see if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: Yes, ma’am.

CALLER: How much does it cost for that?

CLINIC: 275 including all the medication.

CALLER: My main problem is I’m going to be 14 later on this month, and my friend told me that you guys would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend’s 22.

CLINIC: That’s not true, honey. You say you’re going to be 14?

CALLER: Right.

CLINIC: That’s not true. What was the first day of your last period?

CALLER: January 3rd.

CLINIC: No, you don’t have to have a parent, not in the state of Florida.

CALLER: Okay. Well, the thing is, my boyfriend said that he would pay for everything, but we don’t want anyone to know about us. But he’s 22. He could sign for whatever it is. But if he was signing for everything, would anyone have to know about him?

CLINIC: No, you don’t need (unclear) come with you. You want to come today?

CALLER: I’m not really sure. I was just wanting to ask questions really. Do you guys do a pregnancy test first just to make sure?

CLINIC: Uh-huh. Yeah, if you want to come through, a test is $10.

CALLER: Oh, okay. When do you guys do the pregnancy tests?

CLINIC: Monday through Friday from 9 to 4; Saturday, 9 to 5. So if you want to come anytime before 4 today, then you can do that.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, I have to call my boyfriend to see when he can get off work to take me. But if turned out that I wasn’t pregnant, could I get birth control there?

CLINIC: Yeah, you can get your birth control, Depo, whichever one you want.

CALLER: Well, how much does it cost for that?

CLINIC: With the birth control, it’s included with the termination fee.

CALLER: Well, if I wasn’t pregnant.

CLINIC: Then you pay $70 for a pap smear and get your birth control pills then. Now, if you prefer to get a depo, you get your pap smear. And we do your depo for $70.

CALLER: Okay. You just do them whenever or do I need to make an appointment to come in?

CLINIC: For a test you can just come in anytime.

CALLER: Oh, really?

CLINIC: Yeah. Before 4 on Monday through Friday, and Saturdays, 9 to 12.

CALLER: So let me call my boyfriend. Are you sure that no one has to know anything if I came in?

CLINIC: No, patients’ records is confidential.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: So just give me a call back after you call him.

CALLER: Okay. Well, I just wish I could talk to my mom like I’m talking to you. But if I had any other questions, could I call and talk to you? What was your name?

CLINIC: I’m Willie Mae. And then you can also talk to Cindy. You’ll feel comfortable talking to her.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Just talk to Cindy though. She always have a good answer for you.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: All right? So call us back.

CALLER: Okay, thank you.

CLINIC: You’re welcome.

CALLER: Bye.

CLINIC: Bye.
