CLINIC: Planned Parenthood. This is Jennifer. How may I help you?

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: We don’t, but I can give you a phone number of where they do.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: They have — there’s a clinic in Durango, one in Springs, one in Denver and one in Ft. Collins.

CALLER: Okay. What’s the one in Durango?

CLINIC: I don’t know that number. Let me look here. It is, the number is 1-800-472-4884.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know, I’m just really worried because like, well, I’m going to be 14 years old in March, and my friend told me that they would have to tell my parents I’m getting an abortion. But my boyfriend’s 22. Is he old enough to take care of it and they wouldn’t have to tell anybody about anything?

CLINIC: Let me ask. Hold on.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: They won’t notify your parents.

CALLER: Oh, really?

CLINIC: Yes.

CALLER: Okay. Well, it’s just — the thing is, me and my boyfriend were talking about it, and we don’t want my parents to know about all this. So like if he’s paying for it, would they have to — does he have to sign a whole bunch of papers or anything?

CLINIC: I don’t think so. Everything is confidential.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: But I would take it as soon as you can since the longer you wait the more expensive it is.

CALLER: Okay. Well, the main reason that I’m worried about all this is because I haven’t had my period since like December 21st, and I don’t know what to do.

CLINIC: Have you taken a pregnancy test?

CALLER: No.

CLINIC: Okay. Well —

CALLER: Could I come in there for one?

CLINIC: Yeah. If you come tomorrow they’re only $5.

CALLER: Oh, really?

CLINIC: So if you want to come on in anytime tomorrow we can do a pregnancy test to make sure that you are pregnant or it might be something else.

CALLER: Well, would you have to tell my parents if I was getting a pregnancy test though?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Well, my boyfriend would be the only way I could get there. Would it be all right if he was there with me?

CLINIC: Yeah, that’s fine.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Our hours, come on in between 9:00 and 3:00.

CALLER: Tomorrow?

CLINIC: Yes.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Well, if it turned out that I wasn’t pregnant, could I get birth control just so that we don’t have to worry about all this again?

CLINIC: Yes.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Does anybody have to know if I was on birth control?

CLINIC: No. Nobody will know.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know — like since I’m not old enough drive, would my boyfriend be able to pick up like the birth control pills?

CLINIC: Yeah. If you just write a note saying that he can pick them up for you, then we can give them to him.

CALLER: Oh, really?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Uh-huh, bye.

CALLER: Thanks.
