CLINIC: Good afternoon. Thank you for calling Planned Parenthood. This is Carmen. Can I help you?

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: We have on Fridays.

CALLER: On Fridays?

CLINIC: Um-hmm.

CALLER: Could I ask a couple of questions actually?

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: I’m really scared because my friend told me that — I’ll be 14 in March, and she said that you guys would have to tell my parents I’m getting an abortion. But my boyfriend’s 22. Could he just sign whatever, and you wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: Everything’s totally confidential.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: But first what we do is you come in for a pregnancy test, and then we let you talk to a counselor.

CALLER: Okay. Well, if the pregnancy test said that I wasn’t pregnant, do you guys have birth control there?

CLINIC: Yes, we do.

CALLER: Would you guys have to tell anybody that I was on birth control at all?

CLINIC: No, it’s totally confidential.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: I’m just really scared because my last period was December 14th, and I don’t know what to do.

CLINIC: First of all is to come in for a pregnancy test. And we do those Monday through Thursday from 9 to 6.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: And then once it’s either positive or negative, we’ll go from there.

CALLER: Oh, okay. But you guys wouldn’t have to tell anybody at all?

CLINIC: No, it’s confidential.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Thank you.
