CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: No, we do not.

CALLER: Oh. Well, do you know anybody that does?

CLINIC: Planned Parenthood in San Jose. We have three clinics there that perform them.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Nobody here in Gilroy.

CALLER: Oh. Well, do you have the number for one of them?

CLINIC: Sure. The Blossom Hill Clinic, which is the closest one, is 281-9777.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know, like I’m just worried because like, well I’m going to be 14 in March, and my friend told me that they would have to tell my parents that I was getting an abortion. But my boyfriend is 22. Is he old enough to take care if it and they wouldn’t have to tell anybody anything?

CLINIC: I don’t think — it’s completely confidential. I don’t think, I don’t think your parents would have to be notified at all.

CALLER: Oh. Okay.

CLINIC: That I’m aware of.

CALLER: Well, I’m just worried because like I haven’t had my period since like December 21st, so —

CLINIC: Yeah. You need to get in as soon as possible.

CALLER: Okay. Well, could I come in there for a pregnancy test?

CLINIC: Sure. We can do that today for you. You need to be here by 5:00 the latest.

CALLER: Okay. Well, my boyfriend would be the only way I could get there. Is it all right if he’s there with me?

CLINIC: Yeah. That’s fine.

CALLER: Okay. Well, would you have to — we were just talking about all this, and we didn’t want anyone to know anything about us. But would you have to ask a lot of questions if he was there?

CLINIC: No. We don’t ask him anything. We just speak to you.

CALLER: Oh, all right.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Well, if it turned out that I wasn’t pregnant, could I get birth control there?

CLINIC: You have to make an appointment for that.

CALLER: Oh, well, — but it’s just I don’t want to have to go through all this again. So.

CLINIC: Yeah. We wouldn’t be able to do that for you today because that’s a completely different service. We do pregnancy tests every day. Anything else does have to be by appointment. Okay?

CALLER: Oh, well, so after the pregnancy test could I like — if it was — how soon could I get birth control?

CLINIC: How old are you?

CALLER: I’ll be 14 in March.

CLINIC: Okay, can you come in tomorrow? We have Teen Clinic here very Wednesday, 2:00 to 6:00 for birth control.

CALLER: Oh. Well, if I was on birth control would you have to tell anybody about that though?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, if I had any other questions, could I call and talk to you about it? What was your name?

CLINIC: You need to come in. I’m just a front office person.

CALLER: Oh. Well, I just need a —

CLINIC: When you come in today or tomorrow you can talk to the person that does your test. She can help you.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?
