(dialing sound) (ringing 2X)

CLINIC: Good afternoon. Planned Parenthood.

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was calling to see if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: We do.

CALLER: Oh. How much does that cost?

CLINIC: It just varies week-wise, so anywhere from $455 to ($795?)

CALLER: Well, how do you know how many weeks you are?

CLINIC: Depending on the first day of your last menstrual cycle.

CALLER: Okay. That was like December 26, the day after Christmas.

CLINIC: Probably more in the range of $550 to $595.

CALLER: Okay. Do you know — I’m just kind of worried because like my friend — well I’m going to be 14 later on this month, and my friend told me that you guys would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend’s 22. Is he old enough to take care of it?

CLINIC: You’re 14 and your boyfriend’s 22?

CALLER: Uh-huh.

CLINIC: Well, that I can’t really help you with. But, no, we don’t need parent. We don’t need parent consent in the state of Washington.

CALLER: Okay. So would anybody have to know about this then?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Okay. So could I come in there for like a pregnancy test just to make sure I was pregnant?

CLINIC: Sure.

CALLER: Okay. When do you normally do pregnancy tests?

CLINIC: You can come in this afternoon. What is your name?

CALLER: It’s Lisa.

CLINIC: Okay. Can you come in at 3:00?

CALLER: I think so. I’d have to call my boyfriend to see if he could bring me but —

CLINIC: What is your last name?

CALLER: It’s Carter.

CLINIC: Okay. We’ll see you then. It’s anywhere from $6 to $10 charge for this visit also.

CALLER: Well, do you know — like I’m just wondering, do you — if it came out that I wasn’t pregnant, do you guys have birth control there?

CLINIC: You can use condoms and stuff until we can get you for an exam if that were to be negative. You would have to have an exam before we do any birth control.

CALLER: Okay. Would anybody have to know if I was on birth control though?

CLINIC: Not if you want them to know, no.

CALLER: Okay. It’s just, the thing is, I can’t drive. Would my boyfriend be able to pick up the birth control pills?

CLINIC: We’ll discuss that with you when you come in if you’d like.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: All right. Well, I need to call my boyfriend to see if he can bring me in.

CLINIC: Call me back and let me know if you’re going to be able to or not.

CALLER: Okay. So what’s your name?

CLINIC: Dora or you can tell anybody here.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Okay, thanks.

CLINIC: Uh-huh. Bye.
