CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: Uh, yes, we do that.

CALLER: Okay. Well, how much does that cost?

CLINIC: Actually, we have two clinics — one that’s in Dallas. The other one’s in Ft. Worth. Which one would you like to go?

CALLER: Um, probably Dallas.

CLINIC: Dallas? $295 up to 11 weeks.

CALLER: Okay. Well, is it cheaper at the other place though?

CLINIC: They charge $300. I mean, it’s only $5 difference. (laughs)

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, do you know — like if — well, I’m just really worried because like my friend told me that since like I’m going to be 14 in March that they would have to tell my parents. But —

CLINIC: Right.

CALLER: My boyfriend’s 22. Could he just sign whatever it is and they wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: No. Unless he’s your legal guardian.

CALLER: No.

CLINIC: No? Then he can’t.

CALLER: Well, is there any way that I wouldn’t have to tell my parents?

CLINIC: Yeah. You can do something like — hold on, okay? Let me doublecheck. Okay?

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: I think you can go to any of our Planned Parenthood clinic and — okay, hold on, okay?

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Let me doublecheck. (pause) (music) Thank you for holding. The best you can do is to do judicial bypass.

CALLER: What is that?

CLINIC: You will have to go to court and prove to a judge that, you know, you really can make this decision yourself. Yeah.

CALLER: Well, do I need a lawyer for that?

CLINIC: No, but you will have to come in. Okay, hold on. Okay?
CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Thank you for holding. You will want to call us back tomorrow after 9:00 to schedule appointment with our manager. Because she will have to do this with you.

CALLER: Oh. So —

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Well, could I come in there and get a pregnancy test?

CLINIC: You can go to our any other Planned Parenthood clinic that does it. Yeah, they would do pregnancy tests for you.

CALLER: Oh, well, can I go to you guys and get one?

CLINIC: No, we don’t — we do that here, but unless you have the appointment with us, because we only — I mean, basically we just do surgeries, okay?

CALLER: Oh.

CLINIC: So you can go to any — which city — I mean, if you just want to go ahead and do a pregnancy test you can just go to a drugstore.

CALLER: Are those usually right though?

CLINIC: Yeah. I mean, they are pretty good. Yes. Uh-huh. Or you can just go to other Planned Parenthood clinic, and you don’t — I mean, they won’t ask you any questions, okay? So just go in and do it.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know — like say that I wasn’t pregnant, would they be able to do birth control?

CLINIC: Yes. They will do that. However with Planned Parenthood you will have to do a pap smear with us. Uh-huh. And if you do that and they will be able to give you prescription for birth control pills as well.

CALLER: Well, would they have to tell anybody that I was on birth control pills?

CLINIC: Oh, no, no, no, no, not those. Uh-huh. You don’t need anything, like no parental consent for all that, okay? You just parental consent for the abortion.

CALLER: Well, would they have to ask anything about my boyfriend?

CLINIC: No, they don’t. They won’t. Yeah. I mean, it’s just basically you just go and tell them what you need and they will do it for you.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Great.

CALLER: Okay, thanks.

CLINIC: Bye.

CALLER: Hi. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: You need to call 817-882-1175.

CALLER: Well, could I ask you a quick question?

CLINIC: What is it?

CALLER: I’m just worried because like I’m going to be 14 in March, and my friend said that they would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend’s 22. Could he just sign whatever it is and they wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: No, they’re going to tell your parents.

CALLER: They are?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: Is there any way not to tell my parents, because they can’t find out at all.

CLINIC: Yeah. They’ll go over that with you when you call that number.

CALLER: Oh. Well, I haven’t had a pregnancy test yet. Would there be any — but I’m just worried because like I haven’t had my period since like December 21st. So.

CLINIC: Right. And I mean, if you’re 13, there’s going to be the Provider 18 Amendment which requires that anywhere that you — if you go to one of our Planned Parenthood clinics, 13 and under, if you have a positive pregnancy test we have to report that to either the local police or child protective services.

CALLER: Why?

CLINIC: That’s just one of the things that we’re obligated to do.

CALLER: Oh. Well, so if it was a positive pregnancy test you guys would have to tell?

CLINIC: Um-hum.

CALLER: Well, if it, what if it said that I wasn’t pregnant?

CLINIC: I mean, if you’re not pregnant it’s not that — well, I don’t want to say it’s not that big of a deal. It’s just, we don’t have to report if it’s not, if you’re not pregnant.

CALLER: Oh. Well, could I get birth control if it came out that I wasn’t pregnant?

CLINIC: You sure could.

CALLER: Would you have to tell anybody that I was on birth control though?

CLINIC: Um-um.

CALLER: No? All right. Well, well, so, is it all right if my boyfriend brings me in to see?

CLINIC: You’re going to — are you going to do just the pregnancy test?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: Okay. Where are you? Are you in Arlington or Ft. Worth?

CALLER: I live in Roanoke.

CLINIC: Okay. What are you close to?

CALLER: Arlington.

CLINIC: Okay. We have a clinic in North Arlington off of 360 in Abrams Street. Or this is the clinic in South Arlington off of I-20 and Cooper.

CALLER: Okay. Well, my boyfriend gave me this number, so I think he wants to go there.

CLINIC: Okay. If you’re coming here you need to be here no later than 6:00. It’s $18, cash or credit card.

CALLER: Okay. Well, if he was going to pay for everything. Would he have to sign anything?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Okay. He just — we just don’t want a whole bunch of people knowing about us, so. So you guys wouldn’t have to ask anything or have him sign anything?

CLINIC: Only if you have a positive pregnancy test.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Okay. Thank you.
