CLINIC: Sorry to keep you holding. Can I help you?

CALLER: Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: No, we don’t.

CALLER: Do you know of any place that does though?

CLINIC: We have around three places in the area. Okay. Dr. Press’s office — 691-1414. Buffalo Women’s Services, 835-2510. And then there’s Planned Parenthood in Niagara County. It’s 205-0704.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know — like it’s just I’m scared because like I’ll be 14 in March, and my friend said that my parents would have to know about —

CLINIC: No, they don’t.

CALLER: — me getting an abortion?

CLINIC: No, they don’t.

CALLER: Okay. Well, my boyfriend’s 22. Could he just take care of everything though? Is he old enough to do all that?

CLINIC: Probably.

CALLER: Okay. But they wouldn’t have to tell anybody, at all, that I was there for anything?

CLINIC: I believe it’s all confidential.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, could I come in there for a pregnancy test though?

CLINIC: You could take a pregnancy test, sure.

CALLER: Okay. Well, how much would that cost?

CLINIC: $5.00.

CALLER: Okay. Well, if like — is there — like if the pregnancy test came out that I wasn’t pregnant, do you guys have birth control there?

CLINIC: Yeah.

CALLER: It’s just we don’t want to have to go through all this again.

CLINIC: Correct.

CALLER: So. But if I was on birth control, would you guys have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Really?

CLINIC: Um-hum.

CALLER: Okay. Well, how long —

CLINIC: You couldn’t have it all done — Wednesday we have a Teen Clinic.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: This Wednesday coming up.

CALLER: What time?

CLINIC: 3:00 if you can get here.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: And —

CALLER: If I wasn’t pregnant could I get my birth control right then?

CLINIC: They’d have to do a pap and everything, correct.

CALLER: How long does that take?

CLINIC: What?

CALLER: Getting everything.

CLINIC: It could take about an hour or so.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Depending on how many people show up. I mean, it all depends.

CALLER: Well, do I need an appointment for that then?

CLINIC: No. You can walk in 3:00 on Wednesday.

CALLER: Oh, okay. So I could get like, do the exam during the Teen thing?

CLINIC: Right.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, is it all right — like, what was your name?

CLINIC: A medical clerk. I’m not going to be here then.

CALLER: Oh, you’re not?

CLINIC: Um-um.

CALLER: Okay. It’s just — you’re just really nice. I just don’t want to talk to anybody that’s mean. So.

CLINIC: No. You don’t have to worry.

CALLER: Really? Okay. Well, so I don’t need an appointment or anything?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Okay. Well, if I talk to my boyfriend and he had any other questions, could I call and talk to you?

CLINIC: Sure. There’s — I’m the only one here.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: All right?

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: So we’ll see you Wednesday?

CALLER: Okay.
