CLINIC: Planned Parenthood in Bolling (ph).

CALLER: Hi. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: We do at our location in the Central West End. I can give you their phone number.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: It’s 314-531-7526, extension 529.

CALLER: Okay. Could I ask you a quick question?

CLINIC: Absolutely.

CALLER: I’m scared. My friend told me that since — I’m going to be 14 in March, and she said that you guys would have to tell my parents I’m getting an abortion. But my boyfriend’s 22. Could he take care of whatever that is?

CLINIC: No. Your boyfriend’s not your legal guardian, so that wouldn’t work in the state of Missouri. What you could do since you’re 14 is you could go to Illinois where they don’t have as strict of laws for abortion. And I’ll give the number to the Hope Clinic.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Would you like their number?

CALLER: Yes, please.

CLINIC: It’s 1-800-844-3130. And your parents wouldn’t have to know if you got it done in Illinois.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, could I come there for a pregnancy test?

CLINIC: Sure. You can just walk in for a pregnancy test.

CALLER: I’m just scared because my last period was December 14th, and I’m just really worried.

CLINIC: Sure. You could just walk in today and get a pregnancy test.

CALLER: Okay. Well, I wanted my boyfriend to be there with me. Is that okay?

CLINIC: Sure. He can come and wait in the waiting room with you.

CALLER: Well, would he have to sign anything or anything? He’s just scared. He just doesn’t want anybody to know.

CLINIC: Nope. He can just sit in the waiting room. You’ll have to fill out some paperwork, but he won’t.

CALLER: If it ended up that I wasn’t pregnant, do you guys do birth control there?

CLINIC: We do.

CALLER: Would you have to tell anybody at all that I was on that?

CLINIC: No. Not at all.

CALLER: Well, would it be all right if my boyfriend came and picked up the pills? Because I can’t drive to get there.

CLINIC: Let’s do first things first, and why don’t you come in and take a pregnancy test.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: To get on birth control you have to have a full exam. That’s a pelvic exam, a pap smear and a breast exam. And then if you choose to go on birth control pills, you can have somebody else pick them up for you. You just need to give us permission to do that.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: You’re so nice. Could I call you back if I had any questions?

CLINIC: Sure. You can call if you have any questions.

CALLER: What was your name?

CLINIC: My name’s Kelly. And you can walk in today and take a pregnancy test at anytime. We’re open until 7:30.

CALLER: Until 7:30?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: All right?

CALLER: Okay. Thanks. Bye.
