CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: No, we don’t provide that service here.

CALLER: Oh. Well, do you know of any place that does?

CLINIC: If you can hold I will give you reference numbers.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Hold on, please. (very long pause)

CALLER: Hello?

CLINIC: Ma’am?

CALLER: Hello?

CLINIC: Okay, there’s a Planned Parenthood in Ann Arbor, Michigan and there’s one in Itsolantie (sp). There’s also — hold on one second. A Northland Family Planning up in Westland. There’s one in Lavonia (ph), Saulfield (ph).

CALLER: Well, can I get the number for the one in Ann Arbor?

CLINIC: You sure can. It’s 734-973-0155.

CALLER: Okay. Well, I’m just worried because like my friend told me that since like I’ll be 14 in March that they would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend’s 22. Could he just sign whatever it is and they wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: I don’t know how old you are, ma’am.

CALLER: I’ll be 14 in March.

CLINIC: Okay. So what you need to do is call that Planned Parenthood, okay?

CALLER: Oh, all right.

CLINIC: Because we’re not affiliated with them. They may do things differently there.

CALLER: Oh, well, could i come in there for like a pregnancy test though?

CLINIC: You would like a pregnancy test?

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: I thought —

CALLER: Well, I’m just worried that — I don’t know what to do because —

CLINIC: Have you had a pregnancy test? You asked for information for an abortion.

CALLER: Well, I haven’t had a pregnancy test. I’m just scared because my last period was December 14th.

CLINIC: Okay. So you can come in for a pregnancy test. That’s fine.

CALLER: But would you guys have to tell anybody I was there for that?

CLINIC: No. We are confidential.

CALLER: Okay> It’s just, my boyfriend and I, we were talking about all this and we decided that we didn’t want anybody to know about it. So nobody can find out.

CLINIC: Unless you tell them.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Well, if I came in there for a pregnancy test if it was negative could I get birth control there?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Really?

CLINIC: You can get birth control here.

CALLER: Really?

CLINIC: Yes, but you have to have a pap smear or a gynecological exam, yes.

CALLER: Well, how long does that take?

CLINIC: I don’t understand.

CALLER: How long does it take for like the exam and stuff?

CLINIC: Well, you can be here anywhere for maybe, just like to be here an hour and a half because you have to take the paperwork to complete.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, if I was on birth control from there would you guys have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: As I mentioned before, ma’am —

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: We are confidential here, not unless you want to tell someone yourself.

CALLER: Oh, okay. All right. I’m just scared. I don’t want anybody to — I just don’t want to get in trouble. So but — so. Uh, is that everything that you can think of that I would need?

CLINIC: I don’t understand what you mean that you would need. You call here asking me questions regarding — first you asked me about abortion information. You wanted to know where can you get abortions. So I gave you numbers for that. Then you ask other questions.

CALLER: Okay. It’s just, I don’t know what to do. I’m scared. So — I don’t. Okay. Well —

CLINIC: Well, you can come in for a pregnancy test. That’s fine.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: And have the pregnancy test and you would like to know if you’re pregnant or not.

CALLER: Well, is there anyone there that I could talk to? I just have a lot of questions, and I don’t —

CLINIC: Well, you need to come in for that. There is no one available right now.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Okay, thanks.

CLINIC: Well, hello?

CALLER: I’m here.

CLINIC: Okay. We’re open on Monday from 12:30 to 7:30.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Okay? Out to lunch from 4:00 to 5:00. We’re closing soon.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: All righty?
