CLINIC: Kalamazoo Planned Parenthood. This is Kiana (sp). Can you please hold?

CALLER: Yeah.

(Pause)

CLINIC: Thank you for holding. This is Grace. How may I direct your call?

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wanting to ask someone if you guys do abortions.

CLINIC: Yes, we do.

CALLER: How much does it cost for that?

CLINIC: There’s a couple different methods. If you’re less than 14 weeks pregnant, it’s 370. If you wanted to have the medical procedure done, which is where you take medication home, that is 450.

CALLER: Okay. How do you know how far along you are?

CLINIC: You’d have to come in for a consultation where we do an ultra sound to determine how far along you are.

CALLER: Okay. Well, my friend told me that since I’ll be 14 in March that you have to get my parents to sign some stuff. But my boyfriend’s 22. Could he sign it?

CLINIC: No. It would have to be your parent.

CALLER: Okay. Is there any way not to have to tell them? Because they can’t find out at all. I don’t know what they would do if they found out.

CLINIC: Let me put you through to a counselor. Just a moment, okay?

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Thanks.

CLINIC: Planned Parenthood Kalamazoo. This is Marilyn.

CALLER: Yeah, can I talk to Grace?

CLINIC: Hold on a minute.

(Pause)

CLINIC: Thank you for holding. This is Grace.

CALLER: Yeah. You transferred me over and there wasn’t anyone there. They told me to leave a message.

CLINIC: Okay. Then you need to go ahead and leave a message because they’re with clients.

CALLER: But I can’t do that. I’m at my friend’s house —

CLINIC: You can try to give them a call back because they’re not available to take your call right this second.

CALLER: Well, could you answer some questions for me?

CLINIC: Honestly, I don’t know that much about it. All that’s handled through the counseling department.

CALLER: Could I come in for a pregnancy test or anything?

CLINIC: Yes. We have walk-in pregnancy testing from 5 to 7 tonight.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Does anyone have to know that I’m getting a pregnancy test?

CLINIC: We will need your name and everything, yes.

CALLER: Oh. Well, would you have to tell anybody that I was there?

CLINIC: No. Like would we tell your parents? No.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: My boyfriend’s going to bring me, so is that all right?

CLINIC: Yeah, that’s fine.

CALLER: Well, if I wasn’t pregnant, do you guys have birth control or anything?

CLINIC: Yep. They can talk to you about all that when they do the test for you, okay?

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: All right.

CALLER: Do you know that if was on birth control if they would have to tell anybody that I was on birth control?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay? Thank you.

CALLER: Thanks.

CLINIC: Bye.
