CLINIC: Planned Parenthood. Can I help you?

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: Nope. We don’t do them here. The Ann Arbor Clinic.

CALLER: The Ann Arbor Clinic?

CLINIC: Yep.

CALLER: Well, do you have the number for that?

CLINIC: 734-973-0155.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know — I’m just worried because like, well, I’m going to be 14 in March and my friend told me that they would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend’s 22. Is that old enough to take care of it and they wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: (unclear) judicial bypass from the judge.

CALLER: What is that?

CLINIC: You’ll have to go to court and ask his permission to have one done. And they don’t tell your parents. So whoever told you that is wrong.

CALLER: Oh. Well, does the judge ever say no or anything?

CLINIC: Huh?

CALLER: Does the judge ever say no or anything though?

CLINIC: I’m not sure. I’ve never had to go do that.

CALLER: OH. Well, how much does that cost?

CLINIC: Abortions?

CALLER: No. Going to the judge.

CLINIC: The Ann Arbor Clinic can tell you more We don’t handle any of that here.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, do you know if I would need a lawyer or anything?

CLINIC: Nope. You would just meet with them.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, could I come in there for a pregnancy test though?

CLINIC: Yeah. They’re on a walk-in basis, and we’re here until 7:00.

CALLER: Oh. Well, would you have to tell my parents about that?

CLINIC: Nope.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, my boyfriend will be the only way I could get there. Would that be all right if he’s there with me?

CLINIC: Yep.

CALLER: Okay. Because he was going to pay for everything too, but —

CLINIC: We’re on a donation.

CALLER: Oh, really? Okay. So if he was there he wouldn’t have to sign any papers or anything?

CLINIC: You would have to fill out some paperwork, but we don’t tell anybody that you’re a patient here or you were even here.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: You would have to get ahold of —

CALLER: And you wouldn’t have to tell anybody about my boyfriend or anything?

CLINIC: No. Uh-uh.

CALLER: Okay. All right. Well, if it ended up that I wasn’t pregnant, could I get birth control just so that we don’t have at worry about this any more?

CLINIC: You would have to schedule an appointment for a full exam, and then you could get put on birth control pills.

CALLER: Okay. Well, would you have to tell anybody that I was on birth control though?

CLINIC: Nope.

CALLER: Really? All right Okay. Well, if I had any other questions could I call and ask you? What was your name?

CLINIC: Joanne.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Okay

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Thanks.

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: Bye.
