CLINIC: Gynecare. How can I help you?

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was calling to see if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: Yes, we do.

CALLER: Okay. Do you know how much it costs for that?

CLINIC: Under 12 weeks?

CALLER: Okay. Well, I don’t know. I just haven’t had my period since January 3, so.

CLINIC: It’s under 12 weeks. With or without sedation it’s $360.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know — it’s just, the thing is, I’m going to be 14 later on this month, and my friend told me that you guys would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend —

CLINIC: No, we don’t.

CALLER: — is 22. Is he old enough to take care of it and you wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: We wouldn’t tell your parents anyway.

CALLER: Oh. Okay. Well, it’s just me and my boyfriend talked about it. He said that he would pay for everything, but we don’t want anybody to know about this. Would he have to sign anything if he was paying for it?

CLINIC: Only if he’s using a credit card.

CALLER: Okay. Well, he said that he would pay cash, so.

CLINIC: Okay. You just need to make an appointment.

CALLER: So there wouldn’t be any records of this and no one would have to find out anything?

CLINIC: There are going to be records because we are a legal medical facility. But we don’t call your parents. The only way anybody can get your information is if they subpoena it.

CALLER: Well, I’m just talking about like my boyfriend. Would there be any record of him?

CLINIC: Only if you put his name on anything.

CALLER: Okay. But he doesn’t have to do that if he pays for everything with cash?

CLINIC: Right.

CALLER: Okay. All right. Well —

CLINIC: And how old are you?

CALLER: I’m going to be 14 on the 19th.

CLINIC: Okay.

CALLER: So, but it’s just — I haven’t had a pregnancy test yet, so do you guys do that there — just to make sure?

CLINIC: Um-hum.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: You can get a home test and make sure you’re pregnant before you go scaring yourself though.

CALLER: Oh. Well, are those usually right?

CLINIC: Huh?

CALLER: Are those usually right?

CLINIC: Yeah.

CALLER: Oh, okay. I just — okay. It’s just I don’t want to have to worry about all this any more, but would, if I wasn’t pregnant could I get birth control there?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: Okay. Well, how much does it cost for that?

CLINIC: For just a checkup, you’ve never been here before, it’s $100.

CALLER: Okay. And then how much would the birth control be?

CLINIC: They’ll give you a pack of pills to start and a prescription for six months.

CALLER: Okay. All right. So, but the thing is, I can’t drive yet. Would my boyfriend be able to pick up the pills, or —

CLINIC: No. You have to be seen by the doctor.

CALLER: Okay. But after that?

CLINIC: You’re going to get a prescription. You just go get it filled every month and then when you start the last pack you get another checkup. You get your checkup every six months and a pap smear once a year.

CALLER: Okay. When do you normally have appointments available for a pregnancy test and stuff?

CLINIC: For a pregnancy test it’s walk-in.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: There’s a $5 fee.

CALLER: Okay. Do you ever have any hours on Saturday?

CLINIC: For the pregnancy test?

CALLER: Uh-huh.

CLINIC: Yeah. Not this Saturday though.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Saturdays we won’t be back until the 16th on a Saturday.

CALLER: Okay. Well, would it be all right to come in on a Saturday that’s not this next one?

CLINIC: Around what time?

CALLER: I don’t know. When are your hours?

CLINIC: Anywhere from 9:00 to 1:00. No. Yeah, 9:00 to 1:00. But call first to make sure we’re still here.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Because we leave as soon as we’re done.

CALLER: Okay. Well, I need to call you back after I talk to my boyfriend. What was your name?

CLINIC: Tammy.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: All right.

CALLER: Thank you.

CLINIC: Bye bye.

CALLER: Bye.
