CLINIC: Planned Parenthood. May I help you?

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was calling to see if you guys do abortions there.

CLINIC: No, we don’t. The closest is New Haven or West Hartford.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you have that number for the one in New Haven?

CLINIC: Sure. You’ve had a test done?

CALLER: Well, no. I just haven’t had my period since like January 3rd, and I’m just kind of scared.

CLINIC: Okay. Well, I think the best thing would be to come in for a pregnancy test.

CALLER: Well, the thing is, I’m going to be 14 later on this month, and my friend said that you guys would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend’s 22. Is he old enough to sign whatever it is, and they wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: No. We don’t have to tell anyone. Why don’t you come in for the test?

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay? Did you want to come in today?

CALLER: What time today?

CLINIC: We do them between 1 and 3.

CALLER: 1 and 3?

CLINIC: Yep.

CALLER: Well, my boyfriend works from 8 to 5. Is there any other day?

CLINIC: Yes. You can come in Wednesday after 5; 5 to 6:30 we do them.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, let me call him and see. But if it ended up that I wasn’t pregnant, could I get birth control the same day?

CLINIC: Well, we can make an appointment for an exam. That’s just for the test that we can do that.

CALLER: Okay. But would anybody have to know if I was on birth control though?

CLINIC: No. No.

CALLER: Oh, okay. It’s just me and my boyfriend don’t want to have to worry about all this anymore.

CLINIC: Right. Okay. We’ll see you on Wednesday.

CALLER: If I had any other questions, could I call and talk to you? What was your name?

CLINIC: Yes. My name is Glenda, but there will be other people that can give you any information.

CALLER: Oh, really?

CLINIC: It’s not just one person.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: But we have all the information about all the methods of birth control.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: And it sounds like you want to be protected.

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: So come in on Wednesday. And we always have condoms available.

CALLER: Okay. Thank you.

CLINIC: You’re welcome. Bye.

CALLER: Bye.
