CLINIC: Good morning. Planned Parenthood. This is Ann.

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: No, we do not. But I could give you the telephone number of the center in Colorado Springs.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: It’s 1-800-472-7162.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know, I’m just worried because like — well, I’m going to be 14 in March and my friend told me that you guys would have to tell my parents. But my boyfriend’s 22. Is he old enough to take care of it and you wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: No. I don’t know what the law is. You’ll have to call them. We’re a family planning clinic. So you’ll have to call the abortion clinic and ask them and they can let you know.

CALLER: Well, it’s just, the whole thing is, I’m really worried about all this because I haven’t had my period since like December 21st. And I don’t know what to do. Could I —

CLINIC: Are you sure you’re pregnant?

CALLER: No.

CLINIC: Have you had a pregnancy test done?

CALLER: No.

CLINIC: Okay. That would be the first thing that you need to have done I would think.

CALLER: Well, could I come in there for that?

CLINIC: Uh-huh. They’re $22.

CALLER: Okay. Well, my boyfriend said he would pay for everything, but we were talking about all this, and he doesn’t want anyone — like he doesn’t want a whole bunch of people to know about us. Would — if he’s paying, does he have to sign anything?

CLINIC: No. He does — just tell him to give you $22 in cash and come in and have it done.

CALLER: Okay. But he would be the only way I could get there. Would it be all right if he was there with me?

CLINIC: Of course.

CALLER: Oh, okay. All right.

CLINIC: That’s not a problem.

CALLER: Okay. But if it turned out that I wasn’t pregnant, could I get birth control just so that we don’t have to worry about all this again?

CLINIC: Yep. You sure can.

CALLER: But would you have to tell anybody that I was on birth control though?

CLINIC: No. Uh-uh. That’s your right in the state of Colorado to receive birth control without any parental involvement.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do my parents have to know about an abortion if I get that?

CLINIC: I don’t know. I don’t think so. But you’d have to call the abortion clinic to find that out.

CALLER: Oh, all right. Well, when do you normally do pregnancy tests?

CLINIC: We’re open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Today, on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays we’re here from 9:00 until 4:00 and on Tuesdays from 10:00 to 7:00, and you can just walk in any time and have it done. You don’t need an appointment.

CALLER: Well, how long does it normally take?

CLINIC: Three minutes. The test itself is three minutes.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: You have paperwork that you have to fill out, so —

CALLER: Okay. Well, could I come in there like around lunchtime today?

CLINIC: Come in whenever — any time today between the hours of 9:00 and 4:00

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: You can come in any time. Okay?

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: All righty. Thanks.

CALLER: Thanks.

CLINIC: Bye.

CALLER: Bye.
