CLINIC: Planned Parenthood. How can I help you?

CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: No, they’re out of our Sacramento and Roselle (sp) Office.

CALLER: Oh, well, do you have that number?

CLINIC: Yes, I can give you the number. Sacramento is 916-446-6921.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know, I’m just really worried about all this because like, well I’m going to be 14 next month and my friend said that you guys would have to tell my parents I’m getting an abortion.

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: But my boyfriend’s 22. Could he just sign whatever it is and —

CLINIC: No. No. You can do it on your own.

CALLER: Oh, really?

CLINIC: Uh-huh.

CALLER: Okay. Well, would it matter anything about my boyfriend though?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Because he’s — we were talking about all this and he said that he would pay for everything. It’s just we don’t want my parents or anybody to find out about us. So would he have to sign anything if he’s paying for it?

CLINIC: No. You can go do it on your own. You might not want to even get him involved, only because of the age.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Okay? But it’s really up to you what you want to do.

CALLER: Okay. Well, I actually wanted to find out if I was actually pregnant. Like I’m just worried because I haven’t had my period for awhile, so.

CLINIC: Okay, well, you can come in for a pregnancy test tomorrow between 9:30 and 11:00 and 1:00 to 5:00. We can screen you for the pregnancy. If you are pregnant, we can give you your options. If you decide to go with termination we’ll give you information on it. If you decide to keep it, then we’ll give you other information.

CALLER: But you don’t think I should bring my boyfriend with me though?

CLINIC: You can if you want.

CALLER: Oh.

CLINIC: But it could be an issue. It’s really up to you.

CALLER: Okay. What kind of issue?

CLINIC: You’re 14 and he’s how old?

CALLER: 22.

CLINIC: Exactly.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Okay. Well, if it turned out that I wasn’t pregnant, do you guys have birth control there?

CLINIC: Yep. We do.

CALLER: Just so that we don’t have to go through this all again.

CLINIC: Uh-huh. Once you have a negative pregnancy test you can schedule an appointment to come in for birth control.

CALLER: Well, would you have to tell anybody if I was on birth control though?

CLINIC: No. Everything here is confidential. You can come in and do this on your own.

CALLER: Okay. Well, I’m just — I just have a lot of questions, and I’m confused. But if I thought of anything else could I call and talk to you? What’s your name?

CLINIC: My name is Annalee.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Well, what time can I come in tomorrow for a pregnancy test?

CLINIC: Between 9:30 and 11:00 and 1:00 to 5:0.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay? But anybody here can be able to help you with anything you have, or when you come in for your pregnancy test the person that takes you back will be able to answer questions for you too.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, how soon would I be able — like if the pregnancy test was negative, how soon could I get the birth control?

CLINIC: It really depends on how far we’re scheduling. Usually we can get them within a week. Give you condoms or something if you want to take with you.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: All right, thanks.

CLINIC: Uh-huh. Bye.

CALLER: Bye.
