CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was wondering if you guys do abortions there?

CLINIC: No, we don’t.

CALLER: Oh. Well, do you know of any place that does?

CLINIC: Yes. Were you looking just for Planned Parenthood or —

CALLER: I guess. That’s what my boyfriend told me to do.

CLINIC: Okay. I have like four different numbers I could give you.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Would you like them all, or —

CALLER: Just one of them, I guess.

CLINIC: Okay. How far along are you?

CALLER: I’m not really sure. I’m just really worried about all this because I haven’t had my period since like December 21st. So I don’t — I’m just really worried.

CLINIC: Okay. Let’s see. Downtown off of 21st and P Street.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Their number is 446-6921.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know? I’m just like, my friend told me that since like I’m going to be 14 in March that they would have to tell my parents I’m getting an abortion, but my boyfriend’s 22. Is he old enough to take care of it and they wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: Actually, as long as you’re 12 years and older all your records are confidential and nobody can get access to them. So they would not tell your parents.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: If you get an abortion.

CALLER: Okay. Well, could I come in there for a pregnancy test though?

CLINIC: Yes, you can.

CALLER: Okay. It’s just — well, would you have to tell anybody that I was there for a pregnancy test though?

CLINIC: No, not unless you wanted us to.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well —

CLINIC: You would have to actually sign a medical release for any information that was given out.

CALLER: Okay. Well, my boyfriend would be the only way I could get there. Would it be all right if he’s there with me?

CLINIC: Yeah.

CALLER: Okay. It’s just, we were talking about all this and we decided that we didn’t want a whole bunch of people to know about us, so would you be asking — like he said he was going to pay for everything, but does he have to sign anything?

CLINIC: I don’t believe so, not that I know of.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Yes. It’s all confidential anyway. No one’s going to get access to your file except for you or him if you’d like him to have access to your file.

CALLER: Okay. Well, if it turned out that I wasn’t pregnant, could I get birth control there?

CLINIC: Yes.

CALLER: Really? Well, would you have to tell anybody I was on birth control?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Okay.

CLINIC: Everything is very, very highly confidential.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: Yes.

CALLER: All right. I’m just worried.

CLINIC: Once you come here you’re considered an adult.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: So none of your records will be released to anyone.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Okay. Well, if I had any other questions, could I call and ask you? What was your name?
