CALLER: Hi. Yeah. I was on hold, but my friend’s mom came in, and I had to hang up real quick.

CLINIC: Okay. I’m going to be right with you. You’re the next caller, so I’ll be right with you, okay?

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay. You wanted to schedule an abortion?

CALLER: Well, I wanted to ask questions.

CLINIC: Okay. Go ahead.

CALLER: Well, I was asking how much it would be.

CLINIC: Okay. When was your last period?

CALLER: January 3rd.

CLINIC: Okay. You are probably somewhere around — January 3rd, somewhere right around nine weeks or so. So you’d be in that 370 range up until 13 weeks, until you’re over 13 weeks.

CALLER: Okay. The thing is, I’m going to be 14 next month. And my friend said that you guys would have to tell mu parents. But my boyfriend’s 22. Is he old enough to take care of everything, and you won’t have to tell my parents?

CLINIC: We don’t — no. You don’t need to bring your parents with you.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: That’s not required.

CALLER: Okay. So it’s all right if my boyfriend’s there?

CLINIC: Sure.

CALLER: He is going to pay cash for everything.

CLINIC: That’s fine.

CALLER: Well, were just talking about all this, and we don’t want anyone to know about us. If he was paying, would he have to sign anything?

CLINIC: Not if he’s paying with cash. I mean, if he’s paying with a credit card, he would.

CALLER: Oh, okay. So you guys wouldn’t have to know anything about him?

CLINIC: I don’t think so. No.

CALLER: Okay. I really haven’t taken a pregnancy test since — I mean, I haven’t had one yet. I just haven’t had my period for a while, and I’m scared. Would you guys do a pregnancy test first?

CLINIC: Yeah. But if I were you, I would take a test first, just like a home test or whatever.

CALLER: All right. Those are usually right?

CLINIC: Yeah. And then if that’s positive, they call us and schedule the appointment.

CALLER: If it says that I’m not pregnant, could I come there for birth control?

CLINIC: If I were you, I’d go — well, yeah. You can. It’s $80 though. And you get three months worth of pills. And then after that, you’re going to have to pay at a pharmacy the price of birth control pills. So you can do that or you can go through — I think they have programs like Pacific County Clinic or on Planned Parenthood for teenagers.

CALLER: But would anybody have to know if I was on birth control?

CLINIC: No, not at all. Okay?

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Thank you.

CLINIC: No. I’m sorry. We don’t do that service here. We do have a Planned Parenthood in Stockton that does.

CALLER: Oh. Well, do you have that phone number?

CLINIC: 477-4103.

CALLER: Okay. Well, do you know, I’m just really worried because like I’m going to be 14 in March and my friend told me that they would have to tell my parents I’m getting an abortion. But my boyfriend’s 22. Is he old enough to take care of it and they wouldn’t have to tell anybody?

CLINIC: You — everything’s confidential that goes to Planned Parenthood. You might want to call them just to make sure what process you would have to go through — if you pay cash or if you have to go through the Medical.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, my boyfriend said he would pay cash for everything. So.

CALLER: Oh. Well, can I come there for a pregnancy test just to make sure?

CLINIC: Yeah. You can come in for a pregnancy test. You can come in —

CALLER: It’s just I’m scared because like my last period was like December 21st, and I don’t know what to do.

CLINIC: What you can, you can come in tomorrow. We take walk-ins between 8:30 and 11:00.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Or 1:30 to 3:00.

CALLER: All right. Well, if — and if it ended up and I wasn’t pregnant, could I get birth control there?

CLINIC: Yeah, we can see about starting.

CALLER: Oh, okay. Well, would you guys have to tell anybody that I was on birth control though?

CLINIC: Nope.

CALLER: No?

CLINIC: No.

CALLER: All right.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: Would it be all right if like my boyfriend was there with me, because I would just feel better if he was there.

CLINIC: That’s fine. He won’t be able to go in the back with you, but he can sit with you in the lobby.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: Okay?

CALLER: All right. Well, but — so no one would have to know if I was on birth control, right?

CLINIC: No. Nobody would have to know.

CALLER: Okay.

CLINIC: They wouldn’t have to ask your parents’ permission.

CALLER: Okay. I’m just really worried. And I have a lot of questions I can’t think of right now. But could I call you back and talk to you? What was your name?

CLINIC: My name is Teresa (sp). What you can do is, when you come in tomorrow —

CALLER: Yeah.

CLINIC: — you can ask them all the questions in the back.

CALLER: Oh, okay.

CLINIC: And, because it will be more on a one-on-one. And it’s confidential. You’ll be in a room with somebody.

CALLER: Okay.
